Queens Village, NY: The Queens Village Republican Club is proud to honor our local candidates for their valiant races in 2008 for Congressional, New York State Assembly and Senate offices at the upcoming Lincoln Bicentennial Dinner. As they went campaigning door to door, in train stations, shopping malls, civic associations, concerts, churches and flea markets, they took the message of our core American values and principles directly to the people. They will receive special certificates for having earned our respect and admiration for stepping up for our system of Democracy and for setting an extraordinary example for future candidates to follow in their footsteps. Please continue your support for them.

Honoring Our Lincoln Bicentennial Essay Contest Winners
We are proud to honor and present savings bond prizes to two winners and four honorable mentions at the Lincoln Bicentennial Dinner in the Middle School and Elementary School Categories. Their essays on the topic: “What does the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln mean to me” were judged by a panel according to criteria set by Professor Gerald Matacotta and selected as the best of the competition. The winners were contacted through their schools on Tuesday. When they found out the exciting news, they were so jubilant that they are bringing their entire families and teachers to the dinner to celebrate the honors. The Lincoln Bicentennial Commission will publish the winning essays on their website. Our thanks to Glen Oaks Village Owners Corp. and their president Robert Friedrich for generously providing the funds for the award for the Middle School Category. Our appreciation is also expressed to Dr. Dolores M. Fernandez, president of Hostos Community College who provided funds for one of the Honorable Mention Bonds.
Let’s give these bright students hearty congratulations at the dinner. They will be the future leaders of America who understand the significance of Abraham Lincoln’s legacy.
